My snake cuffs and rings are made from a wax carving I did a few years ago. My earliest stockist Catbird just started carrying them and they've been a big hit this summer season.
I've always thought the snake ring and cuff were a cool design. Historically snakes are one of the oldest symbols of power and fertility dating back to the earliest known civilizations. They represent creativity and transformation. As snakes shed their skin, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing.
This is an image of the Minoan snake goddess dating from 1500 B.C. I'd like to think of my snake bracelets as descendants of those held by the Minoan Goddess. In the words of the description on the Catbird site: "a snake with very pleasing lines, just the kind of snake we're interested in wrapping around our wrists".
